Jacksonville Jaguars Hire Gus Bradley

This morning the Jacksonville Jaguars hired Seattle defensive coordinator, Gus Bradley as new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bradley came into the NFL as a defensive assistant under Monte Kiffin and the Buccaneers in 2006. He took Seattle from 27th to 4th in total yardage allowed over the last three years. The Seahawks allowed the fewest points in the league this season. Considering just how bad the defense looked this year, this may be the right hire.

I really appreciated how the front office took their time with this. There have been several names linked to the job including Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer, Bengals OC Jay Gruden and 49ers OC Greg Roman.

The offense struggled this season and I’m sure many will say that we should have hired an “offensive-minded guy.” I can’t argue with that, but operating as a head coach is different than operating as a coordinator. Obviously Caldwell and Khan were impressed with Bradley enough for Caldwell to not wait for his old college roommate in Greg Roman.

New GM. New head coach. A new era is upon us.

Good hire….if we had a top 5 defence in 2012 i dont think we would have been 2-14…..

Good point John. Our offense was lack-luster but how many overtime/close games could have been saved by the defense?

It’s going to get interesting … who will be our O’ & D’ coordinators?

Welcome Gus. Here’s to hoping you can have the same kind of impact another Gus had on a football team. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074599/
