Smith has had one good year after many bad. and his offense is heavily geared towards making the qb successful. good blocking schemes, easy reads, etc. also, they play defense on the west coast this gives the offense more opportunities. Just look at the way his replacement is playing. not a knock on the guy but a lot of other teams passed on his "ability" as for Gabbert, he was somewhat overrated in college. he played against many overmatched opponents and ran up big stats. drafting him was a mistake but whats done is done I think I would rather take my chances in the draft then waste the money on smith.
