2013 NFL Draft Can't Come Soon Enough

I’m as excited about “Black Monday” as any other Jaguar fan (how can we not be?) but my eyes are really focused on the 2013 NFL Draft.  Whether it’s Bjoern Werner, Jarvis Jones, or Manti Te’o joining the team it will feel like everything is getting better.  After Sunday, everybody who isn’t going to the playoffs will be 0-0.  And that is nice.

The draft is when the real healing begins, though.  That’s when we see if the new GM really does follow through on his draft philosophy (remember that high character, base hit thing?) and brings in young talent that will be beneficial for the team.  The 2013 draft will be about making this team stronger.  Just like when GM Gene Smith came to town and slowly removed the pieces that were there before him, whoever comes next will slowly do the same.  A new standard of measurement for personnel on the Jaguars will be used to judge.

The draft is where that all begins.

It can’t come soon enough.
