Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been placed on injured reserve just a couple weeks after he was starting to get back into the swing of things. MJD injured his foot in a game against the Oakland Raiders in week seven.
Jones-Drew had 414 yards on the season and was averaging 4.8 yards per carry on 85 carries in the six games he appeared in. No running back was able to fill the void left by Jones-Drew and the Jaguars running game suffered as a result.
Ultimately, the move to put MJD on IR with only a week left won’t have much of an effect on the 2-13 Jaguars. Just another late season move that doesn’t really matter for a team with a ton of lame duck players, coaches, and general manager.
