As Cecil Shorts III continues to deal with concussion symptoms, he has sat out of practice again this week. Shorts missed Wednesday after passing his baseline concussion test and has missed practice Thursday, or at least the portion open to the media:

If Shorts does not play in the game against the Jets then the Jaguars offense loses yet another major cog, if only for a week.
Shorts is the main offensive generator for this team. Despite quarterback changes, running backs alternating every week, offensive linemen that are a revolving door, and even other receivers disappearing on what seems like a weekly basis, we have Shorts. The guy is a constant. He is the rock of this offense. When the Jags need something, they don’t call on Chad Henne or Rashad Jennings, they look to Shorts.
Injuries have been a major part of the Jaguars’ failings this season and right now I’d rather see Shorts healthy and back on the field in a week than risk a greater injury by playing through his concussion from last week. It would be a shame to have the team leader in receiving yards, catches, touchdowns, and yards per reception miss a week but right now it’s about getting him healthy so he can be a weapon for the Jags in the future. I hope he plays, but if not I’m glad that he’ll be getting healthy.
