After an initial slew of injuries, the Jags finally have a bye week to get healthy. After being blown out at home three times, the Jags could finally put a stop to that with the potential return of linebacker Daryl Smith (questionable for the Raiders game). Smith has been injured for every game this season but has the potential to re-motivate this defense into being a contender week in and week out. With Smith on the field the team can bench Kyle Bosworth finally.
While safety Dwight Lowery will not be playing against the Raiders, the team can definitely use some more stability in the second level of the defense. If Smith can get back this could do wonders for the Jags since his ability to play outside linebacker is unmatched on the team.
With the return of Austen Lane this past week and the potential return of Smith, the team could actually have two things they have lacked all season: a pass rush and good linebacker play.
