Maurice Jones-Drew wants to be traded from the Jaguars. Rumor has it that this request stems from owner Shahid Khan’s comments about MJD’s decisions to stay away from the team and that the “train is leaving the station. Run, get on it.” As nice as it is to think that an owner’s words hold so much weight (this isn’t Jerry Jones we’re talking about!) I’m betting that Jones-Drew has been thinking about this move for a while. In his mind it is the best way for him to get a big pay day since the GM Gene Smith has told him he won’t be getting a contract extension this season.
So, the Jags have some choices. They could keep him and continue to fine him for every day he misses, they could pay him more, or they could trade him. Let’s explore the latter.
