As reported by FOX, Justin Blackmon has pled guilty to his aggravated DUI in Stillwater, Oklahoma. While he did not attend the hearing on Tuesday, his defense attorney entered the plea so that Blackmon would avoid jail time.
Blackmon will be required to complete his 50 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine over the next year in order to complete the terms of the sentence.
The top pick of the Jaguars is taking responsibility for his actions (unlike some players who fight allegations tooth and nail no matter how true they are) and will at least be with the team for the foreseeable future – assuming the league does not suspend him – which should benefit the offense as it develops, molds, and grows together. While the whole incident does not bode well for the young star, it is nice to see that it is wrapping up without overly negative consequences thus far.
