Today is a day for honoring mothers. The beautiful women who have birthed us, raised us, and provided the incredibly tough men that play the sport we love – football.
Thank you very much mothers for letting us stare at a TV screen every Sunday to watch the Jaguars play. Thank you for letting us hit siblings that root against the Black and Teal. Thank you for understanding that football is more than just a sport – it’s a past time.
For all of you mother’s that have small children, I hope that you too understand the glory of the sport (or at least the appeal) and let your child gaze in wonder at the players as they sprint across the green fields in search of immortality. Football provides idols, mentors, and role models for our youth.
The Jaguars organization is committed to bringing in high-character players who are morally sound. These are the players that play the game right and don’t seek to maim or kill the opposition. The Jaguars organization is one to be modeled after – one that children should not be afraid to attempt to emulate.
With superb mothers the world over, we can only anticipate the growth of the sport as children look to football every week for entertainment and learning.
Thank you for letting us watch men clobber each other and score arbitrary points by holding a ball of leather and dropping two feet on the ground. It’s a lot better than having to clean the house!
