The 2012 NFL Draft starts today at 8:00 pm EST! It is the time when all of our hopes and dreams either materialize into a crazy move like Atlanta’s jump for Julio Jones or come crashing down to a bitter reality revolving around historically poor decisions and mismanagement of highly regarded draft picks.
We, as Jaguars fans always know we’re in for some kind of surprise with the ever delightful Gene Smith as our general manager. Nobody truly knows who is at the top of his draft board, who he had good visits with (and who was bad), or who he has had on the phone every night before bed.
Will we get another Tyson Alualu? Will we get a rookie like Blaine Gabbert who underperforms his first year? Or will we find ourselves a blue chip player like left tackle Eugene Monroe?
We won’t know until after the draft ends on Saturday just how good our haul of college talent will be, but I’m betting on a couple surprises. A couple of little treasures that Smith has had in his mind since their college “junior days” that the scouts put them through.
It’s an exciting time here in the NFL. The draft is something we look forward to each year. Something we can set our sights on when we know there won’t be football played for a few months.
And, like Christmas, it has snuck up on us and we can’t wait to unwrap what’s waiting for us!
In Gene We Trust,

Enjoy, and look forward to B&T keeping you updated as the rounds unravel!
