Jaguars Looking to Trade Up For Blackmon

The Jags smokescreen may finally be lifting.  The team is reported to be looking to trade up for Oklahoma State Wide Receiver Justin Blackmon.

NFL.com reported the desire for the Jags to trade up to steal Blackmon before the St. Louis Rams get a chance to nab him.

The most possible trading partner would be the Cleveland Browns who hold two first round picks already and are sitting pretty at pick #4.  If the Jags do swap first rounders and probably a second round or next year’s first round, then the Browns could still be in a position to take Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill and have more picks in the first round or second round to continue to get premium talent.

It isn’t surprising that the Jags are looking to grab the top rated receiving prospect in the draft.  GM Gene Smith knows that getting Blackmon would provide a premier target for QB Blaine Gabbert and ensure that his development can be best facilitated to either show his true talents or lack thereof.

I think this move up could be as beneficial as the Falcons’ jump for Julio Jones in last year’s draft.
