Yea that Wonderlic is shocking. ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd said Wonderlic experts report that scoring a 4 or lower means you’re borderline illiterate. Very disappointing to me, but let’s be fair. How smart does your shutdown corner need to be? Sure he might be like Lenny from Of Mice and Men, but saying, “See that guy… don’t let him catch the ball,” is something he has proven he can process despite historically limited brain power. That being said, you are right on that he’s almost definitely not a Gene guy. Brockers is a beast. 6’6″ 330 is a lot for any line to handle. He and Dontari Poe, who is pushing 350 lbs and grunted out 48 reps of 225 at the Combine versus 19 reps for Brockers, will be interesting to follow to see if the big-time program guy will be better than the small school guy with incredible measurables (basically a microcosm of the Jaguars’ draft debates). It seems like a moot point though because if Gene drafts another Defensive Tackle in the first round, a furious and mob with torches and pitchforks (probably dunk on Steel Reserve) will literally camp outside the Bank until they spill blood and have Gene’s head on a stake.-LJ

You can go ahead and scratch Claiborne. Even if he fell to us, I doubt Gene Smith wants a guy who scored a 4 on the wonderlic. If Blackmon by some miracle falls to us, I don’t necessarily think it’d be a bad thing to draft him…not because we need him, but because he’s a borderline top 5 talent. Reiff is the second rated tackle, but not the 7th best football player in the draft.
