Safety Dwight Lowery has let his agent do all the talking for him over his contract negotiations. Lowery’s agent knew that his client wanted to be back in Jacksonville, he wanted to be comfortable for another year.
The Jaguars wrapped Lowery up in comfort for the next four years. Bringing the converted corner back into the fold again to boost a once-weak Jaguars secondary.
With the addition of Lowery, the Jaguars have guaranteed a solid defensive effort in 2012. Having recently resigned linebacker Russell Allen and defensive end Jeremy Mincey, all of the pieces from last year’s sixth ranked defense are on their way back.
The draft and other free agent signings can only add to that dominance.
But let’s focus on Lowery.
The man can flat out play. His two picks, fumble forced, and hard hitting tackles (28 of them) helped to reinvigorate the Jags in 2012. Without a solid defense the team wouldn’t have won any games in 2011. With Lowery back, we’re keeping key players in place to make sure that the Jags are a very well respected defense in 2012.
The personality of Jacksonville and the personality of myself is a really good match.
The Jags are a classy organization, players know that. Lowery probably could have gotten bigger money elsewhere, but he’s committed to bringing a championship to Jacksonville.
Let’s see him bring it.
