I think he was feeling the pressure to win now and he believed that Garrard gave him the best chance to do that, minus the injury of course. But from my point of view, it was a win for everybody involved. It was good for Blaine because he is getting invaluable experience right now. It was good for the team because the potential for there being a QB controversy was eliminated. It was good for the coaching staff, mainly coach Koetter, because now he can focus on tailoring his gameplans to the strenghts of Blaine. Should Garrard been kept, Koetter would've had to change is approach. And it is good for Gene because it showed he made the right decision.
