It has been widely reported that no Jaguar coach other than Jack Del Rio, has a contract past this season. Jack’s contract extends to the end of next season.
Jack Del Rio recently sold his home in Glen Kernan. This was a home he and his wife had custom built in 2004. Why would he sell the house at the bottom of the Jacksonville real estate market? To be honest, I really don’t know. I do know this, Jack has nothing holding him to Jacksonville at this time except an excellent paycheck.
If the heat on Jack becomes enough to cause his assistant coaches to worry about their jobs, I know what will happen. They will begin putting out inquiries about employment opportunities elsewhere. Their focus will be on their families and their future and rightly so. Our team and our players could face an abandonment crisis somewhere after the bye week.
This is the tricky part of handling a coaching change. Does Jack know his days are numbered? Does his staff feel the heat of no contract into next year? I can assure you this is what is on their minds and on Wayne Weaver’s mind. Do we stay with what we have or do we wipe the staff clean and how and when do we let people know? How long will it be before people announce they have found new opportunities for next season.
The informal word is probably known to some of them. We will have to wait and see. I just wonder what motivated Jack to sell. Does anyone know?
