The only thing that gets me about this whole ordeal is the timing of it. Simple fact is the chances of the Jags making the playoffs this year have been cut in half. Maybe we get a better performance out of Luke than anticipated, but there is no way, with this schedule he can take this team to a winning schedule. Although I could be wrong. It should be a certainty that Blaine will start sometime this season depending on how he progresses and how well Luke does. A comment on Paul Kuharsky's AFC South blog about McCown pretty much summed it up to me: "Good move for the long run... Bad move for the season."

Another interesting point made in another comment in that same article is about the 1,300 tickets sold 90 mintues after the release of the news. That makes it obvious that David Garrard was really unpopular with a fair share of this fanbase. I know he never played as well as his contract warranted him to, but he took a pounding over these last few years that I doubt many could've endured. I think he did a commendable job to say the least, although I always wanted better QB play from him. Maybe now we'll get that out of McCown and he has my full support as long as he is the starter. But I will say this, hurry up Blaine!
