The Jaguars are taking care of things in the exact order we predicted here at Black&Teal: Gene quickly signed 24 undrafted college free agents, made moves on a deal for MLB Paul Posluszny (and likely OLB Clint Session in the next day or two), and once he fixes/patches the safety position, his attention will turn to Marcedes Lewis. Gene knows his importance to the team and will give him a fair deal, but Lewis isn’t going anywhere under the franchise tag and in this free agency frenzy, the more pressing issues must be tackled first. The offense isn’t changing this year and Marcedes’ on-field performance will not suffer by sitting out a few practices to take care of the business-side of his career. The Times-Union’s Gene Frenette believes a deal will be finished with Lewis and Gabbert by the end of the week.
