The deal is on hold until at least Monday, according to NFL.com. Way to piss off the masses NFLPA and way to get the fans stirred into a blood frenzy NFL. The NFL is being accused of forcing the issue by voting on it, however, why would the owners vote on it unless both sides had come to some sort of understanding?
Exactly, I don’t think they would have, because it doesn’t make sense to do that, but there is the small possibility that it could be what is happening. The NFL has already canceled the overkill that is the Hall of Fame Game. Who knows how much that has cost the league already? Both sides should be kissing the fans collective butt right now in order to make the fans happy. Why? The country is in economic turmoil and the deal already gives the players a 10% salary increase per year for veteran minimums. So, example, if the veteran minimum is $250,000, then every year it goes of 10%, so $275,000, $302,500, $332,750 . . . etc. Those are some big increases (I may be wrong, but I just multiplied the number by 10% and added it on top of the salary, then rinsed and repeated). The majority of the players will see a hefty pay raise, practice have been reduced, safety is now paramount, insurance is available to all players, retirement benefits are available. Why are the players still freaking out?! Sign the deal and give the fans what they want. They pay your salaries.
