I kind of hate to see Durant go. I realize it’s not set in stone yet, but chances are they’ll let him test the market. He’s been injured, sure, but he does have that speed you love in a rangy linebacker. With the intention to simplify the defensive schemes this year and focus more on speed and closing on the ball, I was thinking that maybe Justin might finally have his big year (assuming he can stay healthy – that’s the big “if”). I have no idea what kind of money Kirk will be looking for on a new deal, but chances are he’ll test the market as well. I have a feeling we’ll get one of the bigger “name FA safeties or LB’s, and then the rest will be lesser known guys that are younger and have more perceived upside. That’s the Gene Smith way and I am always on board with that. I also would not be shocked at all if we made a strong push on a pass-rushing DE such as Ray Edwards or Charles Johnson. But those guys will be tough to sign away from their current teams as well as the other 30 clubs.
