Blaine Gabbert--Not A Project

If you don’t check Rotoworld daily, you’re missing out.

This seems to say a lot without saying anything. It sounds like they’d prefer  for Gabbert to win the starting job in training camp and through the pre-season, however Garrard was the only one not  labeled “good enough”. Garrard is “good”.

I guess they read one of my articles….

I can’t wait to see what he’ll do.

It’s really hard to say because how do you accurately define the word ‘project’ in terms of a college prospect becoming a professional football player. I think the only time a player isn’t a project is if they come in and have the type of impact Suh had last year with the Lions. If you add the word developmental into the equation, then every player drafted becomes a ‘project’ because they all have to be developed to play football at this level of competition. Given that some players need less development than others, but that only makes them less of a ‘project’ than the other prospects. Since we’re talking about the quarterback position, I think they all come in as ‘projects’ even the great ones like your Bradys’ and Mannings’. So even though Sheppard doesn’t consider him as a developmental project, that is exactly what he is.
