2011 NFL Draft: Jaguars Strengthen Offensive Line in 3rd Round

Fan Feed

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded their 3rd and 6th round picks in the 2011 NFL Draft to move up about 5 spots in the 3rd round and select 6’4″ and 307 lb OT Will Rackley. Rackley, according to NFL Networks Mike Mayock, will likely compete at guard.

What does this mean for the Jaguars? More youth up front that will provide competition. OG Justin Smiley will likely not be on the roster this season and if Rackley impresses enough to become a starter, long-time stalwart Vince Manuwai, starting LG, may be on the out during training camp.

If Rackley fails to gain a starting spot right away, he will likely back-up every spot on the line except the center position. Most likely though, Rackley will rotate as a back-up guard. More to come.
