The Michigan Year

I’m having a tough time finding any quotes from Mallett regarding his decision to go to Michigan and the reason behind, although I have read in the past that it was due to the offense. At Michigan, they ran a pro type offense that produced current Dolphins QB Chad Henne. Mallet, knowing his talents (pocket QB with big arm), went to Michigan to play that style of offense. It fit him.

Ryan Mallet, in his freshman season, was behind incumbent Chad Henne but did have significant contributions in 4 games, starting with 7/15 and 90 yards with 3 TD’s and 0 INT’s against Notre Dame in the third game of the year. The next week he was 16/29 170 yards and 1 INT against Penn State.

Mallet’s totals on the 2007 year: 61/141, 43% complete, 7 TD, 5 INT, 1 rush TD, 892 yds passing

Mallet showed a lot of promise as a true freshman.

Very detailed analysis of rumor and fact. I like that you refuted a lot of the arguments, or at least provided links to some of the stuff to make an informed decision. BUT, while a lot of the allegations may be false, if someone is able to draw this much media criticism/attention and does one bad thing while a Jaguar it may cause distractions and that can be a problem whether they are real or Mallet denies them. In that case, because nobody is perfect, I’m not certain it would be smart to pick him up. But I’m with you, he’ll be gone somewhere in the top 15, maybe Miami will nab him(?).

    thank you, luke
and thats true about the criticism, but if its truly false, it could have the opposite affect and draw the team closer. miami probably would be a good fit, but I’m thinking Henne gets another year. MN would be a great fit, especially when you add in that they’re desperate
Perhaps cincy with a trade down
