sorry it took a while and i had a much longer comment but the internet cut out

I think alex smith is a solid quarterback. I would keep him if i was san fran. Everyone should remember that he led what would have been the game-winning drive at the end of the 4th quarter on MNF against the super bowl champion saints, except the defense collapsed. That's a good sign in what really is a young QB.

Now, his INT's are bad. But i recall both of his not being as bad as they seemed this past sunday night. I remember in particular that his deep ball is actually not that bad but his wr's don't seem to know how to play it.

All in all, i think he can be above average, but he needs consistency around him and it looks like it is on the way. Except for the new offensive coordinator, but they seems to be working. He's never had consistency in that dept.

He's made good use of crabtree, who i felt wasn't worth the 10th pick, and i still agree with myself.

OH! and he's got that look in his eyes!

I am going way beyond my knowledge here, but it strikes me as another David Garrard situation.

The 49ers are rebuilding their O-Line. The right tackle Anthony Davis is giving up a lot of pressure and the left tackle Joe Staley is holdinghis own barely. The guards are good.

That means Alex Smith looks good sometimes and other times he doesn't. Against New Orleans, he had a great day. Against Romeo Crennel and the Chiefs, he had a nothing day. Against the Falcons, a nothing day. He is throwing 2 interceptions a game. So is he trying to make things happen by himself with no help at receiver and a leaky line (David 2008) or does he stink? I really don't know.

If Shaun Hill can do better in Detroit than Alex Smith in San Francisco, I guess I have to say some of it is on Alex. I guess I wouldn't want him starting for us.

Sorry, a horribly uninformed opinion, I haven;t seen him play. What do you think?

Terry,

On a totally unrelated note, what do you think of Alex Smith?
