David runs free - good block but it drew a flag

Uche Nwaneri and the Phantom Call

Jack Del Rio said the call against Uche Nwaneri in the second quarter of the Eagles game was a phantom call.  I thought we could take another look at it and decide for ourselves. So here it is:

David scrambles to the first down marker

Uche comes to the rescue

There it is - a shot to the head

That was taking a guy's head off

So what do you think?  Phantom call or good protection against headhunting?

Two Letters: BS…I hope the Jags will get a call like that in this Sunday as a reward.

Remember in the NFL maay the referees take away something; but you will get that back in the upcoming game

looked good to me. I hope we get a compensatory call too cause we’re gonna need some help this week.

It looked clean to me, but from the referee’s vantage point, I could see why he called it. I’m not going to get bent out of shape about it, because this sometimes happens when you play football. I’d rather our guys be aggressive like this and get the occasional penalty than be timid. That keeps the defenders looking around next time David starts to scramble instead of going full tilt.

Had the guy’s helmet been on correctly, it wouldn’t have come off, and that wouldn’t have been called.

Dermott – I think you are right!
