THE OTHER 31: Week 3

You once knew them as Power Rankings. Henceforth, they shall be known as THE OTHER 31. They are slanted, they are biased, they are a completely unfiltered look into the Jaguars’ competition around the NFL. I hope you love them. I hope you hate them. Care to argue or join in the heckling, I direct you to the comments section below.

#1 (1) New Orleans Saints (2-0): I can already tell I’m going to be nauseous having to hear the freakin’ Saints/Gulf Coast/Katrina/rebirth angle all over again this year…there’s no other storyline to take if the Saints end up make another deep run.

#2 (3) Green Bay Packers (2-0): The only other pre-season top 10 team to start 2-0. One point – the Pack reemerged in 2007 when, midway through the season, Ryan Grant (who was plucked from the Giants practice squad) came from nowhere to spark a surprisingly effective ground game. If Green Bay doesn’t trade for a serviceable ballcarrier (read: Marshawn Lynch), they could fade down the stretch in the cold Lambeau winter.

#3. (7) Houston Texans (2-0): I don’t know if I’d rather plunge a rusty knife in my thigh or say what I’m about to say. The Texans have looked impressive and, for once, virile.

#4. (4) Indianapolis Colts (1-1): I think it’s really just Peyton and his receivers this year. They might make the playoffs one last time, but the Colts are about to fall off a cliff.

#5 (2) New England Patriots (1-1): The AFC East is gonna get real interesting this year. The Pats’ huge offense versus the Fins’ and Jets’ ferocious attacking defenses.

#6. (11) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0): Amazing what a difference Polamalu makes in this Defense…

#7. (10) Miami Dolphins (2-0): Beat the Bills 14-10, then the Vikings 15-10. Are the Vikes really one point better than the Bills?

#8. (9) Cincinnati Bengals (1-1): That’s more like the defense I was expecting but where is the pass rush?

#9. (8) Baltimore Ravens (1-1): Everyone’s preseason Super Bowl pick ain’t goin’ anywhere if Flacco keeps tossing up ducks that ugly.

#10. (12) Atlanta Falcons (1-1): Lemme tell you, B-dub’s is going to be BANGING this weekend after that scorefest.
