I think with the words-he wants to win the devision and expects that the defense is must finish at the top 10 is raising the bar very high/put more heat under his seat.

I agree with you winning is the key; but the defense performance is also a barometer for him!

I would hate if he goes too. I like the guy; but he must show something. He earned 10 million for almost nothing even compared to his first 5 years! I know it is rebuilding but; he can't afford to have a losing season (and he has a really tough schedule to do it...)

Thanks for the comment by the way!

"Winning" is a fine way to define "success" for a head coach. But winning also doesn't necessarily mean that the team will do well.
I would reject that reasoning in favor of this definition of "success" for Jack Del Rio: Win the AFC South. If that is not achieved, I believe Jack should be demoted or fired.
Now, I LOVE Jack Del Rio. I think he is a phenomenal coach, and always have. Not to mention a rather excellent player when he was on back in the day. He is one of the major reasons I became a Jaguars fan. He has state over OTAs that he wants to win the AFC. He has declared that as his goal. I understand a lot of OTA talk is just talk, but he should make this serious. And as his declared goal, if he falls short, he fails. Period.
By defining success in this way, we have a clear cut success/fail scenario at the end of the year. I would hate to see him go. I don't think a better replacement could be found in the league right now. But if he can't deliver his own goals, he shouldn't be in charge. (I'd love it if he stayed on as defensive coordinator when he does get replaced somewhere along the line)
