Very good article and comments. That is a bad side of the NFL. The players who didn’t make it and/or having really seriousűinjuries. I feel really sorry for them!

I agree with Jon; the next CBA must take care for these players somehow!

Thanks for coming by and commenting! Concussions are a very scary aspect of football. Consider this about all-time Steeler center Mike Webster:

Unfortunately, retirement did not treat Mike Webster as well as his football career. In 1999, the lineman was diagnosed with brain damage caused by repeated head injuries sustained during his time in the NFL. Multiple concussions had damaged his frontal lobe, and the effects of the injuries grew worse in recent years. The rest of his life, unfortunately, deteriorated along with his health, leaving him unemployed, debt-ridden, and occasionally homeless.

The new CBA is going to be interesting. With no cap, theres not going to be a floor. Though I do agree, I think the next logical step is to have some sort of guaranteed medical care for players.

The thing I would be fighting for hardest though is concussion evaluations. It’s clear the league has been trying to sweep that under the rug for as long as possible.
