The Jaguars have made a splash at the beginning of day two but not only taking DT Terrance Knighton from Temple with the 8th pick in the 3rd round but they also trade to pick Derek Cox CB from William and Mary with the 9th pick of the 3rd Round.
To get the 9th pick the Jaguars had to give up our second round pick from 2010 and one of our three 7th round picks this year. This may seem like a lot to give up for a relatively unknown CB from a small school but Cox’s recent pro day workout had many scouts excited about his potential. Here are his stats:
40-Yard Dash-4.38 & 4.40 *
Bench Press-12 reps
That broad jump number was the best by any player in the entire draft. And did I forget to mention he also returns kicks?
At 6’3, 321 pounds Terrance Knighton has the size that you want from a big run stuffing DT. His presence should take some of the pressure off of John Henderson on first and second downs. Look for the Jags to rotate him with Derek Landri who would be subbed in on passing downs.
