I took a look around the web today to see who all the mock drafts had the Jaguars picking in the upcoming draft. This is assuming they stay at the number 8 spot which I could easily see them trading down to avoid a high rookie salary. Now, in my mock draft last week, I had OT Michael Oher from Ole Miss falling to us. If he is there I have no doubt we will take him but the big question is whether or not someone else will take him first. Let’s begin the rundown:
thehazean.com - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
sports2debate.com - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
nflmockdraftaces.com - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
cdsdraft.com – Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
mynfldraft.com - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
profootballamerica.com - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
footballjabber.com - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri (Lee)
footballjabber.com - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor (TJ)
kornheiserscartel.com - Rey Maualuga, LB, USC
dawgpounddaily.com - Rey Maualuga, LB, USC
draftdude.blogspot.com - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
nfldraftexperts.net – Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
prosportsdraft.webs.com - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
sidelionreport.com – Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
draftace.com - James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State
draftdaddy.com – Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
draftguru.wordpress.com - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
So the most common names to come up are Jason Smith and Jeremy Maclin. I don’t see the Jaguars picking either of these players in the draft. I don’t think there is any way we take a receiver in the first round and I think that eventhough Jason Smith has a lot of upside, he is a reach that high in the draft as a converted TE.
