The search for a new Defensive Coordinator is under way in Jacksonville as it is pretty apparent that Greg Williams will not seek to renew his contract. The first person interviewed by the Jaguars, as reported by NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, is Cleveland Browns‘ Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker.
The Cleveland Browns’ Defensive Coordinator?
The same Cleveland Browns who finished 26th in the NFL last season in total defense and 30th in total sacks? I hate to say it but I hope the Jaguars are just trying to satisfy the league’s requirement to interview minority candidates because to hire the Defensive Coordinator of the Browns would be a joke. I know Jack Del Rio wants a strong hand over next year’s defense but please don’t hire a completely hapless coordinator just so you can control them.
In other coordinator news, last week’s rumors have proven to be true as Jags Special Teams Coordinator Joe DeCamillis has been signed by the Dallas Cowboys. So now we begin the search for a new Special Teams Coordinator as well.
