Extended contract or not, Del Rio has got to go before this team will ever really be a serious contender.
We need a coach who understands offense. Del Rio was suppose to at least know defense, well that hasn’t turned out either. However, his lack of knowledge of offense and the undisciplined way he handles this team are amazing. He should stop trying to be friends with the players and be a coach! Sorry Jack, you gotta go
Some one pointed out to me the other day the Jags have never been better than a wild card team under Del Rio. Part of the reason is because we’ve always had one of the most dominate AFC teams in our division but when will it be our turn to be that team?
i don’t know when it’s gonna happen, but i’ll tell you this: it won’t be under del rio. that guy is a bad football coach, plain and simple.
yeah, i remember all the hate you guys had on coughlin too. how’d that turn out after he left? the one thing i’ve seen about head coaching in this league is that it takes longevity to make it. you have to establish yourself as a head coach. you have to devise a system that works. you have to find the right people to make that system work. you have to draft the right people for that system. and you have to cycle through that system a least twice to see the results of that system succeed. look at the coaches who are the longest tenure in the nfl. they have had success and they have cycled threw the process; BUT IT TAKES TIME. as a cowboy fan, i know in this day of the nfl, tom landry would never had made it because the modern owner would have given up on him too early to see his results. he coached the cowboys for 29 years. do i have any arguments on my assessment????? it takes time. give delrio time to implement his mind and will on this team. be patient and it will someday show success. if you give up on him now, you’ll have to start over with someone else and the end result is disaster. i always say look at sanfran. alex smith was the #1 draft pick and in his 4 years in the league has had 4 new off. co’s in each of his years. and they say HE’S a bust????? come on what kind of a chance did he ever have with no stability in that organization since bill walsh left. you see???? let the stability process work for a while before you scream for change. you guys had it with the general, and you let him go?????
fisher is the perfect example. he does’nt have the greatest talent in the world, (kary collins for pete’s sake) but he has one hell of a system and the right players to make that system work. bill parcells has always said the same thing. a coach needs 10 years from the start to the finish. if he gets 10 he’ll start out with 5 years of building, 3 years of championship winning and 2 years of rebuilding. that is the cycle…..look at shanahan of denver. another perfect example. see?
